Our Story
Everest is owned and operated by Christian and Tonya Porter. Everest employs ASE Certified technicians who were hired for their mechanical aptitude and honest hard working attitude.
Christian spent the majority of his professional life working for a bank in Delaware as a Technology Project Manager. He worked on cars in his spare time out of his house for several years as a way to keep his hands dirty because when he was under a car he was truly in his happy place. His neighbors, friends, co-workers and even complete strangers brought their vehicles to him for oil changes, brakes, shocks, etc. He maintained a demanding job while spending most of his free time fixing cars.
Over the years his passion turned into a real business and he and his wife had to make a decision - follow his dream and open a shop or stay in his comfy job that kept his bills paid and food on the table. So they did what they always do when faced with a tough decision - they prayed for guidance.
Three days later Christian was notified that after 12 years of service he would be offered a severance package to leave his cushy job. Their prayers were answered.
Christian and Tonya had to figure out how they would create a shop from scratch in a very short amount of time. They had to build a unique place that would help seperate their new shop from a crowded mass of established repair businesses. They asked their current customers why they brought their vehicles to Christian instead of going to other more established shops. The answers were all pretty much the same: “Everywhere I take my car I feel like I am taken advantage of because I am a woman.” And this is how Everest came to be the first and only car care business that caters to women.
Everest is a small but efficient shop that takes care of customers like they are family. Christian ensures every vehicle is serviced and repaired no differently than if he were working on his moms, daughters or grandmothers vehicles. Most Everest customers are women but we will work on anyone’s vehicle - including men.
Everest is not a shop for everyone. We don’t use cheap generic parts, we don’t do coupons and we tell it like it is - even when you may not want to hear it. But we are always truthful and you know you get what you paid for on every job.
